WITH a better tie-break score,
Rudra Dhole clinched the title in
Nagpur District 123rd Weekend
Open Rapid Chess Tournament
that concluded at NDCA Hall,
Sports complex, Dhanwate
National College,Congress
Nagar.
The event was a joint venture
of Nagpur District Chess
Association and DNC. In all 37
players including 26 ELO rated
players participated in this tournament.
In the sixth and final round,
playing with white pieces on the
second board, Rudra defeated
Arnav Dhoke while on top board,
Mohak Bhagchandani beat
Sahejveer Maras. Ritvik Jaiswal,
playing with black pieces, got the
better of Aditya Kamla purkar on
the third board.
In a three-way fight, Rudra,
Mohak and Ritvik all ended with
an identical five points from the
six rounds. Better tie-break scores
separated the three with Rudra
bagging the first place. Mohak
and Ritvik were declared second
an third respectively.
The trio of Sahejveer,
Rushikesh Lohit and Nihansh
Khode all finished with 4½ points
each and were placed from fourth
to sixth in that order. Vinay
Barhanpure, Arnav, Aditya and
Rugved Kale all secured four
points apiece and took the seventh to tenth spots.
Earlier, Suhan Deshpande won
the 122nd edition. In all 58 players including 33 ELO rated players participated in this tournament. Total seven rounds were
played.
Suhan remained unbeaten to
score six and half points to finish first. Half a point behind him
was Ansh Dhanvij and with five
and half points Mrudul Rajesh
Tijare took the third spot. From
fourth to tenth, all the seven players ended with an identical five
points each. They were placed
in that order (4th to 10th) after
tie-break rule was applied —
KushagraPaliwal,Mohak,
Rushikesh, Aarit Thakur, Rutam
Zanwar, Shivam Singh and Ved
Phaur.
Total cash prizes of Rs 6,000
were distributed among top 10
players in both the events. Prizes
were distributed at the hands of
