FIVE Vidarbha players including India seamer Yash Thakur have been drafted into India ‘A’ squads for two multi-day matches and three-match oneday series against Australia ‘A’ in October, the BCCI announced on Wednesday. Thakur (Twenty20 International) and Vidarbha’s left-arm spinner Harsh Dubey (One-Day International) made their India debut just a couple of months ago. While Thakur has been named in India ‘A’ one-day team, Dubey, in all probability, will be picked for India senior squad. Opener Aman Mokhade represented India ‘A’ in Sri Lanka red-ball series while it is maiden call-up for the trio of middleorder bat Yash Rathod and seamers Nachiket Bhute and Praful Hinge. All four have been selected in India ‘A’ team for multi-day matches. Mokhade, Rathod and Bhute were part of the Central Zone team in Duleep Trophy. Hinge had a sensational debut in the Indian Premier League. The Australia ‘A’ tour will start with the first multi-day match in Puducherry from September 22, followed by the second game from September 29 at the same venue.

 

The multi-day matches will be followed by three one-dayers on October 6, 9 and 11 in Puducherry. India’s senior team will be playing three ODIs against the West Indies on September 27, 30 and October 3. Devdutt Padikkal will lead the India ‘A’ multi-day squad while Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain the one-day side. Sai Sudharsan has been named vice-captain of the India ‘A’ squad for the multi-day matches after recovering from a foot injury.
