JUNIOR Doctors Association (JuDA), Jabalpur, has called off its strike with immediate effect following assurances from Madhya Pradesh Government on key demands raised by the medical fraternity. The decision was announced on Wednesday after discussions between representatives of the junior doctors and State Government, followed by a joint press conference with the Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla. One of the major decisions announced during the talks was a 50% increase in the stipend of medical interns and resident doctors. The Government has also constituted a high-level inquiry committee headed by Shilpa Gupta, Secretary, Home Department, to investigate the issues raised by the doctors. The committee has been asked to submit its report within a week. Following the Government’s assurances, JuDA Jabalpur announced the immediate withdrawal of the agitation. Junior doctors and interns resumed their duties at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital, restoring routine healthcare services, including OPDs, elective surgeries and other clinical work.

 

The association had suspended routine OPD services and elective operations in protest against what it described as unfair treatment, workplace misconduct and the alleged use of force against junior doctors. While emergency services continued during the protest, routine medical care and scheduled elective procedures were affected. JuDA had demanded appropriate action over the recent incident involving junior doctors and called for stronger legal and administrative safeguards to ensure the dignity and safety of healthcare workers while on duty. After the Government’s intervention, the association expressed gratitude to interns, resident doctors, faculty members, senior consultants and supporting staff for standing together during the agitation. JuDA representatives said the resolution was the result of collective efforts and democratic dialogue. They expressed hope that the Government would implement the promised measures within the stipulated timeframe and reiterated their commitment to protecting the dignity, safety and rights of medical professionals.
