V-C promises to strengthen IT infrastructure
The proposed Cloud infrastructure is expected to help the varsity strengthen its digital systems, improve data management and provide a more robust IT backbone for various academic and administrative activities
Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) is planning to establish its own Cloud system as part of efforts to strengthen its information technology infrastructure and reduce dependence on external service providers.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar disclosed the plan while replying to a question raised by Advocate Manmohan Bajpayee during the Senate meeting held on Wednesday.
The University’s Management Council has already approved a proposal to establish a Section 8 company. Accordingly, RTMNU has decided to set up a company under its own name and will seek assistance from IT experts for the initiative.
Dr Kshirsagar said the University is also considering procuring source code for developing and upgrading its software systems.
“We will study all aspects and features, understand how the source code can be obtained and accordingly prepare the required software,” she said.
The proposed Cloud infrastructure is expected to help the University strengthen its digital systems, improve data management and provide a more robust IT backbone for various
academic and administrative activities.
Dr Kshirsagar assured the Senate that the University would take necessary steps to modernise its IT infrastructure and develop systems suited to its long-term requirements.
