‘Speed thrills, but it kills’. This warning proved real when a 21-year-old engineering student died after falling from Sakkardara flyover along with his two-wheeler on Thursday morning.
Prajit Bhimrao Vahane, a resident of Gayatri Nagar, Jagnade Chowk, Nandanvan Slum, was on Sakkardara flyover at around 10.15 am when he suddenly lost control and fell from the flyover along with his vehicle. He succumbed to injuries during treatment in the hospital. The incident spread panic in Sakkardara area.
After getting information, a police team from Sakkardara Police Station rushed to the spot and admitted him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he was declared dead by the doctors during treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests that he may have lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.
Whereas, police are examining CCTV footage in the area to confirm the exact cause of the incident.
