THE RPF has busted a gang that was stealing undergear copper wiring from trains parked in the Adhartal railway station yard. The RPF Jabalpur team took action and caught six accused red-handed. Following their information, two scrap dealers who purchased the stolen goods were also arrested. Railway property worth approximately Rs 38,200 was recovered from the accused’s possession. According to the RPF, the gang targeted trains parked in the railway’s outer and yard areas, including Adhartal. The accused would go under coaches, cut the undergear wiring, and later sell it to scrap dealers. Since the wiring is connected to critical railway equipment, such thefts have the potential to impact the safety of rail operations. A special team from the RPF post in Jabalpur was patrolling and monitoring the Adhartal area. During this time, the team spotted some suspicious individuals under the stable coaches. Upon closer inspection, they discovered they were cutting under-gear wiring. The RPF team surrounded the area and apprehended all six accused on the spot.

 

After questioning, the team located two scrap dealers who were purchasing stolen goods and arrested them as well. The arrested have been identified as Sohil Khan alias Monty (25), Mohammad Asif Khan (22), Mohammad Tarmizi alias Salman (28), Mohammad Nooruddin alias Nooru (32), Sohil Ansari alias Welder (23), and Mohammad Sonu (23). All are residents of different areas of Jabalpur. Mohammad Anwar Ansari (47) and Mohammad Ayuv alias Bablu Chati (57) were also arrested for purchasing stolen goods. Preliminary investigations by the RPF revealed that three of the six arrested accused have prior cases of theft and other crimes registered against them in various civil police stations. Based on their police records, they have been declared habitual offenders. The RPF is also investigating how many times the gang has previously targeted railway property and to which scrap dealers they sold the stolen goods. A case has been registered against all the accused under the Railway Property (Illegal Possession) Act (RPUP Act) at the RPF post in Jabalpur. The entire operation was carried out by a team led by Post Commander and Inspector-inCharge Rajiv Kharab, consisting of SI R K Chandel, ASI Sukhram Ben, HC Jitendra Tiwari, Prem Singh, Kedar, and constable Harikesh.
