JDI, DIC pin hopes on upcoming Nagpur Investment Summit Target Rs 10,000 cr investment
Business Reporter :
Building on the resounding success of recent investor meets held in Gondia and Wardha, the Joint Director of Industries (JDI) and the District Industries Centre (DIC) are now looking at attracting investment to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore during the upcoming summit in Nagpur. The authorities have set the ambitious target aiming to position the district as a major industrial hub in the State.
The organisers are actively exploring and engaging potential investors across strategic sectors, including defence manufacturing, mining, steel, and other fields. The upcoming summit is expected to bring a massive boost to infrastructure, trade, and economic growth across Vidarbha region.
The ambitious goal comes on the heels of impressive results from the recent district-level summits held in Wardha and Gondia.
Expressing immense optimism about upcoming event, Sunil Hazare, General Manager DIC, said that the Gondia and Wardha summits were a big success.
“We are also looking at similar response during the Nagpur summit,” he added. Date for the Nagpur summit is not yet finalised. The recently concluded Wardha Investment Summit proved to be a milestone for the region. The event witnessed signing of 53 key agreements representing a proposed investment of Rs 3,011.20 crore.
Speaking at the summit, Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant emphasised that the MoUs signed in Wardha were not merely numbers on paper, but an entryway to sustainable economic independence and localised employment.
Highlighting that the investment would create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, he remarked that the youth of Wardha would transition from being job seekers to
job providers and thriving entrepreneurs. Similarly, the Gondia District Investment Summit unlocked Rs 489.9 crore in investment potential through 57 signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs). The Gondia summit focused on key regional strengths, including rice
processing, plastic and rubber manufacturing, eco-tourism, and bamboo production under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. The ventures pledged in Gondia are projected to generate nearly 980 direct jobs. With momentum fully on their side, officials are confident that Nagpur’s superior connectivity, rich mineral resources, and well-developed industrial zones will make the upcoming summit a landmark event in driving Maharashtra’s economic trajectory forward.
