MADHOTAL police arrested two persons involved in the illegal liquor trade and seized 251 bottles of English liquor, two mobile phones and a car from their possession. SHO of Madhotal police station Virendra Singh Pawar informed that acting on a tip-off on September 15, police raided the road in front of a house belonging to Priyansh Agnihotri in Basa village. The police found Priyansh Agnihotri (28), of near Stem Field School, Basa, and his associate Ashutosh alias Chunga Yadav (22), of Madai, Ranjhi, standing near an unregistered white car. On seeing the police, the two tried to escape but were caught after being surrounded.
 
During a search of the car, police found 19 cartons containing different brands of English liquor. Police said the accused disclosed during questioning that around 10 days earlier, they had procured 25 boxes of English liquor from Arjun Kevat of Gwarighat for sale. Ashutosh had brought the liquor to Priyansh's house in an unregistered white car. Fearing police patrolling, the accused were in the process of shifting the liquor elsewhere when they were caught. Police seized 251 bottles of liquor, estimated to be worth around Rs 2.25 lakh, two Android mobile phones and the car used for transporting the liquor. The vehicle had no registration number displayed externally, while a number plate inside the car bore the words “MP High Court” and registration number MP-20ZH1055. Madhotal police have registered a case against the two accused under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act.
