Cantonment Board on Monday performed the bhoomipujan for Rs 43.77-crore water supply project under Amrit Yojana 2.0, aimed at strengthening drinking water supply in the cantonment area. Chief guest on the occasion was MP Ashish Dubey while MLA Ashok Rohani, JMC Chairperson, Rikunj Vij, CBJ President Brigadier Dinesh Kumar Jhangoo, Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Kumar and senior citizens were present. The project will provide Narmada water to 16,877 households through 57 km of distribution network. Overhead tanks with capacities of 15 lakh litres at Tagore Garden, 17 lakh litres at Katanga School, 15 lakh litres at Gora Bazar, 13 lakh litres at Karaundi and 11 lakh litres at Eidgah Maidan will be constructed.

 

Around 11 km of clearwater pipelines will also be laid. The Board also released its 10- year Vision Plan (2026-36) to develop the cantonment as a modern, clean, safe and smart township. The plan focuses on digital governance, infrastructure modernisation, environmental protection, improved civic amenities, healthcare and education. It includes GIS-based land management, upgraded water and sewage systems, better roads and street lighting, digital payments, waste management, solar energy and rainwater harvesting, besides stronger militarycivilian coordination. Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Kumar said the plan was aimed at improving residents' quality of life through transparent administration and smart solutions.
