More than 420 spectacles were distributed to underprivileged students of Indira Gandhi Secondary School in Kalameshwar on Tuesday as part of a joint initiative by Mahatme Eye Bank Eye Hospital and Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL).
The initiative aimed to address vision problems among students, particularly those from rural backgrounds, and reduce the difficulties faced by children in reading and following classroom lessons.
The distribution programme was attended by MLA Ashish Deshmukh, MLA Rajeev Potdar, MSETCL Director Vishwas Pathak, Nagpur Civil Surgeon Nivrutti Rathod, MSETCL Chief Engineer Satish Aney and founder of Mahatme Eye Bank Eye Hospital Vikas Mahatme. Teachers said the improvement in students’ ability to see was noticeable after they received the spectacles. Students who earlier struggled to read blackboard were able to follow classroom activities more easily.
