The Regional Transport Office (RTO), Nagpur City, has made it mandatory for all dealers engaged in the purchase, sale or exchange of registered used vehicles to obtain an authorisation certificate under Form 29-B, in accordance with Central Government regulations. Issuing a public notice, Deputy Regional Transport Officer Sujit Dongarjal warned that dealers operating without the prescribed certificate would face action under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and related rules.

 

As per the notification, individuals and establishments involved in the business of buying and selling registered vehicles must secure official recognition before undertaking such transactions. No person or organisation without the required authorisation will be permitted to conduct the business. The RTO has directed all used vehicle dealers within its jurisdiction to submit applications for recognition in Form 29-A at the earliest. Applications will be scrutinised and verified by Motor Vehicle Inspectors, who will conduct physical inspections based on the prescribed checklist. Following successful verification, eligible establishments will be issued authorisation certificates in Form 29-B. The Transport Department has urged dealers to complete the process without delay. Officials cautioned that strict action would be initiated against those continuing to trade in used vehicles without obtaining the mandatory authorisation certificate.
