THE District Sports Office, with the concept of ‘Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat’, conducted various sports competitions to markthe National Sports Day at Divisional Sport Complex in Mankapur, informs Shashikant Kalambe, District Sports Officer (DSO). Therewas aspontaneous response fromstudents,sports organisations,and citizens. The main objective of this initiativewas to encourage players fromvarious groups toparticipate enthusiastically and excel in the competition. DSO conducted gymnastics for Under-10 boys and girls and table tennis singles and doubles in open and emerging players categories.

 

Subro to Mukherjee Football Championship for U-15 girls, and U-17 boys and girls was organised at SFS College Seminary Hills. DSO also felicitated international athletes on the occasion. Prof D rKalpana Mishra Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee (Football)waschiefguestat the National Sports Dayfunction. Kalambe,rifle shooting coach Anil Pande and Sports Officer Maya Duble were presentat the event. International paraathletes Abhishek Shailya and Shashruti Nakade,and fencer Shruti Joshi were felicitated with saplings, mementoes and a book on Olympic medallist Khashaba Jadhav. Winners and talented players who performed outstandingly in various sports competitions were also honoured. Nishant Patil conducted the proceedings while Swapnil Bansod proposed avote of thanks.
