IIM Nagpur inaugurates ‘Hindi Month 2026’ 

 

Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIM Nagpur) on Tuesday marked beginning of a month-long celebration of the Hindi language through a series of literary, cultural and academic activities with the inauguration of its ‘Hindi Month 2026’ event. Dr Vedprakash Mishra, noted educationist, thinker and orator, was the chief guest of the function. On the occasion, he highlighted the important role played by Hindi in India’s freedom movement and its continuing relevance as a language that connects people across the country.

 

Dr Mishra said that Hindi was not merely a language of communication during the freedom struggle, but also became a powerful means of connecting people across geographical and linguistic boundaries. IIM Nagpur Director Dr Bhimaraya Metri, CAO Prof Devashis Rath, Chairperson – brand and media Prof Yatish Joshi, faculty members, officers, staff and students attached to Veda literature club were present at the Hindi Maah inaugural function. “If Bharat Mata is considered our mother and the country our motherland, Hindi can be seen as a language that belongs naturally to all Indians,” he said, stressing that Hindi is not about replacing other Indian languages but about strengthening communication and national connect.

 

Earlier, Prof. Yatish Joshi outlined the activities planned during Hindi Month at IIM Nagpur and spoke about the institute's efforts to encourage the use of Hindi through a diverse range of programmes.Prof. Devashis Rath spoke about the growing use and acceptance of Hindi at IIM Nagpur. Prof. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur, spoke about the simplicity and accessibility of Hindi. In addition, IIM Nagpur announced ‘Meghdoot’, its Annual Hindi Publication. As part of the inaugural programme, the cover and concept of ‘Meghdoot’, IIM Nagpur’s annual theme-based Hindi publication, were launched.
