The online registration portal for the Research and Recognition Committee (RRC) process for Ph.D. admissions at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will be reopened for three days, providing relief to students who could not complete their registration due to technical difficulties. The online registration process had closed on August 27. However, a large number of students had complained of difficulties while filling and uploading their applications.

 

On August 27, RTMNU Senate members Dr Shrikant Bhowate, Dr Omprakash Chimankar and Dr Varsha Dhurve, accompanied by some students, met Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar and brought the technical difficulties to her notice. The Vice-Chancellor immediately sought details from the officials handling the university's online system. It emerged that more than 500 applications had been successfully uploaded, while over 300 students were still unable to complete their registration.As no decision had been taken on the issue, Senate members Dr Shrikant Bhowate, Rahul Hanwate, Avinash Kathane, Sanjay Khobragade and Rajeshree Dhawale again met the Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday along with students and discussed the matter in detail. They urged the university administration to ensure that students did not suffer academically because of the technical problems.

 

Taking serious note of the issue, Dr Kshirsagar directed the concerned officials to reopen the RRC registration portal for three days from Wednesday. Extension sought for degree, postgraduate admissions Meanwhile, the admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses is scheduled to close on September 2. The Senate members also submitted a representation seeking an extension of one month, pointing out that the admission process for professional courses has been extended through September and admissions in several colleges are yet to be completed. The Vice-Chancellor responded positively to the demand and assured the delegation that the admission deadline for undergraduate and postgraduate courses would be extended by a few more days. The decision is expected to provide relief to students who are yet to complete their admissions.
