“RAIN-DAMAGED roads in the city will be made commutable within a day or two,” said Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh. He directed all concerned officials to take up repair work on immediately. The Mayor gave the directions during a review meeting held to discuss road conditions, public convenience and city beautification. Singh said all major and internal roads damaged by rain should be made fit for traffic. He said construction of damaged roads in Gwarighat, Ranjhi and other areas would start within seven days after the monsoon ends. The Mayor also directed officials to speed up public works recommended by corporators and the Municipal Corporation chairman.
 
He also reviewed the city’s plantation drive. Under the target of planting 11 lakh saplings, 2.54 lakh have been planted so far. Plantation work is continuing at Dumna Nature Park, Kathonda and other parts of the city. The Mayor said modern fountains are being installed at 12 major and busy squares. Beautification of the city’s main entry points is also planned. Landscaping, development of parks, pathways and improvement of lighting are also underway. He directed officials to maintain quality and complete all works within the prescribed deadlines. Additional Commissioner V N Bajpai, Superintending Engineer Kamlesh Shrivastava, Garden Officer Manish Tadse and other officials attended the meeting.
