CHHATTISGARH Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has shared a video message and accompanying poetry on social media, emphasising the revered status of mothers in Indian culture and appealing for restraint and cultural propriety. The post comes in the wake of an ongoing political dispute surrounding a comedy performance at the Chhatron Ki Goonj event in Indore. During the programme, which featured Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, comedian Pulkit Mani performed a routine impersonating Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The performance included references to an incident where the Prime Minister requested a chair for an elderly woman during a public address.

 

Ruling party leaders raised sharp objections to the act, contending that the satire crossed acceptable boundaries and disrespected womanhood and maternal dignity. Steering clear of direct political recriminations, Chief Minister Sai’s message focuses instead on core societal values regarding respect for elders and mothers. In his post, Sai shared a recording featuring a classic poem on maternal sacrifice by the late poet Om Vyas, highlighting a mother’s selfless role and her foundational place in family life. The Chief Minister noted that while ideological differences remain a natural element of public debate, fundamental respect for mothers must be preserved across all public forums.
