A MASSIVE fire broke out at Shri Gajanand (Parakh Jewellers) located in Jawahar Market, Power House, Bhilai triggering panic across the commercial hub. The Fire Department received an alert regarding the blaze at around 3:21 AM on Monday following which a firefighting team with a water tender was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the flames had already engulfed the jewellery store. Fire personnel promptly initiated firefighting operations and using approximately one water tender, they succeeded in bringing the blaze under control while preventing it from spreading to the adjacent commercial establishments.

 

The operation posed significant logistical challenges due to the congested and narrow lanes of Jawahar Market, which severely hindered the movement of the fire engine. Despite these accessibility constraints, the team managed to reach the spot on time and prevent widespread damage across the market complex. While no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, preliminary assessments suggested damages running into several lakhs of rupees, with the exact financial loss to be determined after a detailed assessment by the shop owner. The exact cause of the fire remained unknown and is currently under investigation by the Chhaoni police.
