SLEUTHS of Lokayukta police Jabalpur caught two persons, including an audit officer of Cooperative Department, while taking bribe of Rs 8,000 in Narsinghpur, on Monday. The accused have been identified as Rajendra Singh (59), Audit Officer at office of Deputy Commissioner, Co-operative Societies, Narsinghpur and Amit Srivastava (34), In-charge Manager of Marketing Cooperative Society Maryadit, Narsinghpur. The action was carried out under the direction of Lokayukta Director General of Police Yogesh Deshmukh and the leadership of Deputy Inspector General Manoj Singh.

 

According to Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Jabalpur, Anjulata Patle, complainant Ashok Kumar Patel (46), a resident of Megh village in Gotegaon tehsil, lodged a complaint that Rajendra Singh was conducting the 2025-26 audit of Seva Co-operative Society, Barhata. Singh demanded Rs 20,000 to conduct the audit and refrain from raising objections. The complainant approached Lokayukta Superintendent of Police’s office in Jabalpur. During verification, Singh agreed to accept Rs 8,000 as bribe. On September 21, Lokayukta team caught Amit Srivastava accepting the Rs 8,000 bribe at office of Marketing Cooperative Society, Narsinghpur, in the presence of Rajendra Singh. Lokayukta Police Jabalpur registered a case under Sections 7, 13(1)(B) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018, along with Section 61(2) of the BNS. The trap team included TLO Inspector Rahul Gajbhiye, Inspector Jitendra Yadav and members of Jabalpur Lokayukta team.
