A male and a female sloth bear that had strayed from the nearby forest into the human settlement of Mul town were safely rescued. These bears had been roaming the Goyal Petrol Pump area for the last week before entering the town. Late Sunday night, the male bear took shelter near Rawat Petrol Pump. A vigilant Forest Department team captured and rescued it. Shortly after the male bear was caught around 4 am, the female bear entered Mul town and hid in the thickets of 'Bhagat Singh Ward'. Residents spotted her hiding in dense bushes on an open plot opposite the homes of Arun Ainpreddiwar and Badal Karpe.

 

Locals informed Prashant Samarth, former Chairman of the Public Works Committee, and Umeshsingh Zire, President of the Sanjeevan Environment Organisation, about the situation. The matter was immediately reported to the Forest Department and the police. Police Inspector Vijay Rathod reached the spot, deployed security personnel, and prevented citizens from approaching the area where the bear was located. Subsequently, the Forest Department's rescue team arrived and successfully captured the female bear as well. Arrangements have now been made by the Forest Department to safely release both bears back into the wild. This incident caused a stir in the Bhagat Singh Ward area during the morning hours.
