TO ENSURE a hassle-free and eco-friendly festival experience, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) established temporary idol immersion centres at key city intersections and neighbourhood spots on the auspicious occasion of Dhol Gyaras. The civic body’s initiative aimed to ease traffic congestion and reduce crowd pressure at major lake ghats. Devotees across the capital made full use of these localised hubs, bringing small household and small-pandal Lord Ganesh idols for final immersion with traditional religious fervour. From early morning until late evening, immersion sites resounded with vibrant chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ accompanied by the rhythmic beat of dhol and cymbals.

 

Enthusiastic families and youth gathered at these stations to perform final aartis and offer prayers for peace, prosperity, and a swift return of the deity next year. BMC deployment teams were stationed at each centre to manage water supply, maintain sanitation, and assist citizens through the immersion ritual. The decentralised set-up spared residents long commutes to distant water bodies while preserving the sacred atmosphere of the festival. By decentralising the process, the civic administration successfully balanced religious sentiment with urban management, keeping the city's festive spirit high throughout Dhol Gyaras.
