THEMadhya Pradesh Police can no longer post reels in uniform, monetise their social media accounts or upload official files to ChatGPT. In a sweeping 24-point order, Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana has issued the MP Police Social Media Guidelines-2026 after several instances of personnel posting indecent reels and objectionable content were reported. Citing the MP Civil Services Conduct Rules, Police Regulations and MHA and MeitY guidelines, the circular bans all reels, photos and videos in uniform, on or off duty, and orders immediate deletion of existing objectionable content. Secrets & Security: Sharing confidential Government documents on social media or uploading them to AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini is strictly prohibited. Posting duty details, live locations, geotags, VVIP security visuals, and weapon training videos is banned.

 

No money from social media: Creating accounts for paid promotion or monetisation in own, family or fake names without government approval is banned. Promoting any private business or product will be treated as misconduct under Rule 16. Those who have already earned income must disclose it within 30 days. Protecting Privacy: No photos or identities of victims, witnesses, complainants or accused during investigation. Faces must be blurred and prior permission is mandatory. Posting identity of sexual assault victims and juveniles is strictly forbidden. No posts on ongoing investigations or sub-judice matters. Discipline First:Hateful, communal, casteist or obscene posts, AI-generated objectionable content, criticising government policies, seniors or colleagues, and using protest symbols or political logos as DP are prohibited. Friending criminals or anti-social elements on social media is barred. Family members cannot post in police uniform or with police vehicles and weapons. The guidelines will be read out compulsorily in daily roll calls, and violations will invite disciplinary action.
