Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) city bus service, Aapli Bus, has established Nagpur as a leader in Maharashtra and a front-runner across India in digital ticketing adoption for urban public transit. The daily ridership of Aapli Bus has climbed to approximately 2.37 lakh passengers, with more than 41.03 per cent now opting for digital payment methods to purchase tickets.
This milestone is the result of concerted efforts led by Transport Committee Chairperson Mangala Khekare, Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar, the Transport Manager, and the dedicated team of Transport Department. Inspired by Prime Minister’s ‘Digital India’ vision, the
shift toward cashless transactions brings greater transparency to fare collection, minimises revenue leakage, speeds up
passenger boarding, and strengthens the nation’s formal economy.
Attributing this success to the citizens of Nagpur, Chairperson Khekare expressed sincere gratitude to passengers for adopting digital payments and elevating the city’s profile.
She reaffirmed the department’s commitment to
making ‘Aapli Bus’ even more reliable, convenient, and fully digital. She also acknowledged the key support provided by Mayor Neeta Thakre, Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani-Wakhare, and Ruling Party Leader Narendra (Balya) Borkar in realising these goals. Finally, the NMC encourages all commuters to continuously use digital payment options when travelling by ‘Aapli Bus’, actively participating in building an empowered and cashless nation.
