CITY’S ultra endurance athlete
Dr Sunita Dhote added yet
another feather in her cap as
she completed the HYROX
Mumbai, in Women’s Open
Solo category, in Mumbai,
recently.
Dr Dhote,the first Indian
woman to complete the IRONMAN 70.3 (1.9 km swim, 90 km
cycleand21.1kmrun) in Dubai,
has proved that age is no barrier.Dr Dhote is professor at
School of Management,
Ramdeobaba University.
Dhote, at 54, demonstrated
remarkable determination,
endurance and sporting spirit
by completing the HYROX
Mumbai race in 2 hours 13 minutes and 46 seconds.
HYROX is an international fitness competition combining
running and functional fitness
and successfully participated
in three events in succession.
She finished the HYROX
Bengaluru in Women’s Open
Solo category on April 11 after
which she participated in the
HYROXD elhi in Mixed Doubles
category on July 24, partnering
with her brother,Ganesh
Kshirsagar. Her sporting credentials also include representing India at theWorld Diving
Championship in 2014. She has
also created acycling record in
2014 and also competes in 10-
kilometre sea swimming.
Dr Dhote attributes her journey to the encouragement and
support of several people
including her coach, Dr Anil
Trivedi and Rajendra Jaiswal.
She is also grateful to her
friends from several endurance
communities,her university
colleagues,her sons Tejas and
Rajas,and her husband Nitin
Dhote for their constant encouragement and support.
