IT WILL be ahigh-octane final when St John’s High School will take on St Francis de Sales (SFS) in the summit clash of the 33rd Peter Mermier Football Tournament. The battle for supremacy will be held on September 28. In the semi-finals, St John’s, who won the Under-17 title on Tuesday,had to fight it out hard against Bishop Cotton School fishingouta5-4winvia tie-breaker after they played out a1-1 draw in regulation time. Hosts St John’s were shot into lead in the fifth minute of play when striker Moses Joseph bulged thenet fromacloserange.

 

Bishop CottonSchoolnever gave up and succeeded in drawing parity two minutesbefore the final whistle through Amar Khan to take thegameintoshootout.In the spotkick competition, Sahil Samudre, Ashmit Pramanik, Fuzal Khan, Mahir Thakur and Umar Khan scored for St John’s while for BCS, Neel Gotwat, Santosh Singh, Tanmay Thakur and Navair Khanconverted their chances. In the second semis,SFS registeredahardfought1-0winover Delhi Public School, Kamptee. Samuel Francis turned out to be the herofor SFS with agoal inthe dying minutes of play.
