ST JOSEPH’S Convent girls quelled the spirited challenge from Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir,Civil Lines branch as they went on to emerge the district champions of the Under-17 Schools’Football Tournament. The tournament is being organised by District Sports Office at SFS College ground in SeminaryHills. St Joseph’s pipped Bhavan’s by asolitary goal scored by Saanvi Kotangle in the 25th minute of play to book their place for the divisional meet. Earlier in the semi-finals, St Joseph’s rode onAliza Anthony’s18th minute strike to beat Hindustan Vidyalaya 1-0 while Bhavan’s defeated Centre Point School,Wardhaman Nagar 2-0 with Kritika Das (6th) and Khadija Mohd (10th) scoring the goals. Inthe hard-line final, CPS beat Hindustan Vidyalaya2-1. Nazia Chimthanwala (8th) and AnaghaYadao(20th) scored for CPS while for Hindustan, Pihu Kori (11th) found the back of the net.
