Three young labourers from Bihar drowned in a farm pond at Mohanlal Shankarlal Agarwal Agro Private Limited near Nagardhan on the Ramtek-Mauda National Highway on Saturday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Gulshan Kumar Mandal (20) and Manish Kumar Mandal (19), both residents of Purnia in Bihar, and Rupesh Kumar Sharma (18), a resident of Khagaria in Bihar. According to police, the incident took place around 2 pm, about 12 km from Ramtek. The three youths were working at the rice mill located in the agro park. After completing their first shift on Saturday, they went to the farm pond to bathe.

 

They reportedly drowned while bathing. A worker, Hamal Khade, rushed to inform the agro park owner about the incident. The owner then alerted Ramtek Police. Contd from page 1 A police team led by Police Inspector Rajesh Kumar Thorat, along with Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ramesh Barkate, reached the spot. With the help of local fishermen, police recovered two bodies. A search operation was underway to trace the third youth at the time of filing this report. The recovered bodies have been kept at the mortuary of the Sub-District Hospital in Ramtek. Police said around 50 to 60 labourers had been brought from Bihar by contractor Prashant Kumar to work at the agro park and rice mill. The three deceased youths had arrived in Nagardhan around 20 days ago. Ramtek Police have registered a case of accidental death and started further investigation.
