The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the timeline for filing claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra, providing additional time for voters whose entries have been flagged for anomalies or remained unmapped during the verification exercise. According to the revised schedule, electors can now file claims and objections till October 12, 2026, while the period for disposal of notices, claims and objections has been extended to November 10, 2026. Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) offices, Booth-level Officers (BLOs) will now visit their homes to collect supporting documents. The documents will subsequently be uploaded on the ECINet platform for scrutiny and decision by the ERO. Election authorities clarified that personal hearings would now be held only in exceptional circumstances and, wherever possible, through online mode.
