Stone-pelting by unidentified miscreants between Borkhedi and Sindhi railway stations damaged windows of three AC coaches of the Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express (12290). No passenger was injured in the incident. However, the the incident triggered panic among passengers. The incident took place when the train was travelling towards Mumbai. Windows of coaches A-1, B-2 and B-5 were badly cracked after stones were pelted at the train. A video of the incident is also circulating on social media. It shows an object hitting and breaking the outer window glass when the train was moving at high speed. Passengers sitting near the windows were shocked by the sudden ‘attack’. There was confusion and commotion inside the coaches for some time. According to Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials, Guard Shailesh Bhaskar and conductor R B Patnaik immediately took stock of the situation.

 

They spoke to passengers and gathered details about the incident. The RPF swung into action after receiving information. Sub-Inspector Ashwin Pawar, along with the dog squad, Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, reached the spot. An intensive search operation was launched along the railway track between Borkhedi and Sindhi stations to trace those responsible. Police Patils and residents of nearby Borkhedi and Brahmni villages also were questioned. RPF officials said a case had been registered against unidentified persons. The force is examining possible locations and conducting an extensive investigation to identify the miscreants.
