Two 18-year-old youths were killed after their scooter was hit by a truck on the Fetari Godown–Mahurzari Road, on Monday, under the jurisdiction of Kalmeshwar Police Station. The deceased were identified as Ved Vinay Bobde (18), a resident of Veer Chakra Colony, Katol Road, and Atharva Ajay Thawre (18), a resident of Sadar, Nagpur. According to police, the two youths were travelling towards Mahurzari on a TVS Jupiter scooter (MH-31/FJ-1505). When they reached near the Fetari Godown area, a truck coming from behind allegedly hit their scooter. The impact was severe. Both youths were thrown off the two-wheeler. The duo suffered critical injuries and died on the spot. The exact sequence of events is yet to be established. Police are investigating whether the truck driver failed to notice the scooter, driving rashly or whether some other factor led to the incident.

 

The role of the truck and the circumstances will be clear after the investigation, said a police official. After receiving information, Kalmeshwar Police rushed to the spot. Police personnel conducted the necessary procedures at the site. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Inspector Manoj Kalbande. PSI Pravin Ghodam and other police personnel including Amol Paralkar and Ram Nehare. The bodies were shifted to the Rural Hospital, Kalmeshwar. Kalmeshwar police have registered a case and started an investigation.
