CHIEF Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday toured flood-affected areas of Sukma and Bastar districts, assuring affected families of comprehensive Government assistance while directing officials to accelerate relief, damage assessment and rehabilitation. Sai visited Shabrinagar, Srinagar, Linepara and Dongaghat in Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation area, interacted with affected families and heard their concerns. At Shabrinagar, he inspected the relief and health camp and reviewed arrangements for healthcare, food, drinking water and other necessities. He also served food to people staying at the camp. The Chief Minister visited a flood-affected family’s home to understand the circumstances faced during flooding and losses suffered, directing officials to ensure assistance without delay. Heavy rainfall on September 23 and 24 caused flooding and waterlogging across several parts of Sukma.

 

Relief measures include health camps, dry ration and warm clothing distribution, regular medical examinations, chlorination of drinking water sources and sanitation measures to prevent water-borne diseases. Sai also reviewed damage in Konta, where rising Sabari River waters inundated riverside villages and four municipal wards. Authorities have established 19 relief centres providing accommodation, food, drinking water and essential facilities. The Chief Minister announced additional assistance of Rs 10,000 each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for around 300 families whose household belongings were damaged. This will be over and above assistance admissible under RBC 6-4. Sai directed officials to complete damage assessment and financial assistance distribution promptly, ensuring no eligible family is excluded. He also ordered rehabilitation work to be accelerated. Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Rahul Bhagat and other officials accompanied him.
