Broken divider potholes trouble

What should be a smooth main road has turned into an obstacle course. The Mhalgi Nagar Square is riddled with deep potholes and broken dividers, putting school children, senior citizens and daily commuters at serious risk on daily basis. A reality check by ‘The Hitavada’ showed the entire square stretch is damaged and eagerly waiting for its repair. The tar has come off, leaving sharp stones and gravel exposed. At least half a dozen big potholes, each one to two feet wide, have formed in the middle of the road. Two-wheelers are seen wobbling and trying to avoid them, but there is hardly any space left to maneuver.

The divider, which is supposed to separate traffic and keep smooth traffic movement, is itself a hazard. At two places near the square, the divider blocks are broken, displaced and lying on the road which may cause accidents if it will be ignored. A broken divider, with a heap of concrete and iron rods dumped right in the middle of Hudkeshwar Road on Mhalgi Nagar square turned into a threat for commuters. There is no proper barricading or warning sign affixed there by the administration to avoid accident.

The busy square is always a threat to school students and administration is giving no attention on this issue despite many complaints by the local residents. Accidents of two-wheeler riders due to loose gravel is now a regular routine. During rains, potholes led to water logging in the area which always raises trouble not only for the two-wheeler riders but also for four-wheeler drivers and bus drivers. Locals say the condition deteriorated after recent rains and has been neglected for weeks by the authority.
