THE Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav at Mantralaya on Tuesday, approved development and welfare proposals worth more than Rs 24,500 crore. The decisions cover youth employment, education, healthcare, roads, irrigation and rural development. Agniveers get 20% quota: The Cabinet approved 20% horizontal reservation for Agniveers in recruitment to police constable, Special Armed Force, jail guard, forest guard and excise constable posts. Separate reservation provisions for Home Guards and exservicemen will continue under the approved recruitment structure. Guest teachers get Rs 5,329 crore: The Cabinet approved Rs 5,329.17 crore for continuation of the Guest Teacher Honorarium Scheme from 2026-27 to 2030- 31. More than 76,000 guest teachers are currently working in government schools across the State. An allocation of Rs 348.07 crore was approved for 2026-27 to provide uniform assistance through DBT to students and parents of Classes 1 to 8 in Government schools. Damoh-Katni road gets approval:The Cabinet approved Rs 4,470.30 crore for construction of the 105.10-km DamohKatni road as a four-lane road with paved shoulders under the Hybrid Annuity Model. Healthcare gets Rs 3,245 crore: Rs 3,245.80 crore was approved for continuation of three health schemes from April 2026 to March 2031. Of this, Rs 3,113.27 crore will go towards construction of community health centres, sub-health centres and primary health centres, while Rs 20.90 crore is for strengthening the drug regulatory system and Rs 111.63 crore for drug control. Hospital projects get fresh approval:Revised approval of Rs 372.12 crore was given to expand Singrauli District Hospital from 450 to 605 beds.

 

The Cabinet also approved Rs 953.69 crore for construction of the Chhindwara Institute of Medical Sciences hospital and associated buildings. Irrigation projects continued: The Cabinet approved Rs 1,608.02 crore for continuation of the Maa Ratangarh Multipurpose Irrigation Project in Datia, which aims to develop irrigation capacity over 78,484 hectares. Another Rs 524.65 crore was approved for the RampuraManasa Micro Lift Irrigation Project in Neemuch, targeting 65,400 hectares. Kanh diversion gets Rs 358 crore: The Cabinet approved Rs 358.22 crore for continuation of the Kanh Diversion Closed Duct Project in Ujjain. The project aims to prevent polluted Kanh River water from entering the Kshipra by diverting it through a 30.15-km underground tunnel and covered canal to the Gambhir River ahead of Simhastha 2028. Banda project gets Rs 1,052 crore:An allocation of Rs 1,052 crore was approved for continuation of the Banda Major Irrigation Project in Sagar. The project aims to develop irrigation facilities over 80,000 hectares through a dam and micro-irrigation system. Rural fund gets Rs 3,580 crore: The Cabinet approved Rs 3,580.22 crore for continuation of the scheme transferring cess collected on land transactions to the Rural Development Fund. The funds will support basic infrastructure projects in rural areas through Panchayati Raj institutions. Law and courts get funds: The Cabinet approved Rs 1,342.48 crore for 14 schemes under the Law and Legislative Affairs Department from April 2026 to March 2031. A further Rs 622.37 crore was approved for the court-process service scheme covering salaries and related expenses of process servers in subordinate courts. Other decisions cleared:The Cabinet approved subsidised foodgrains at Rs 1 per kg for residents of hostels, ashrams and community welfare centres under the Department of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Welfare. It also approved Rs 2.41 crore and 12 new posts for district handloom offices in Mauganj, Chhindwara, Maihar and Tikamgarh.
