THE Chhattisgarh State Election Commission has released the schedule for the revision of electoral rolls for the general and by-elections to urban local bodies and three-tier panchayats scheduled for December 2026. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh said the schedule covers 417 posts for municipal general elections, including mayoral positions in four municipal corporations Bhilai, Bhilai-Charoda, Risali and Birgaon along with 13 municipal presidents and 400 councillors. By-elections will also be held for one municipal president and six councillor posts. For the three-tier panchayats, the electoral roll revision will cover 814 posts, comprising one Janpad Panchayat member, 92 sarpanches and 721 panchs.

 

The electoral rolls are being prepared with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. According to the schedule, draft electoral rolls will be published on October 23, followed by a period for filing claims and objections. The final electoral rolls will be published on November 30 after the disposal of all claims and objections. To ensure transparency, accuracy and timely completion of the revision process, the State Election Commission will appoint 33 Electoral Roll Observers, with one observer assigned to each district. The revision exercise is a key preparatory step for the December local body elections and by-elections across Chhattisgarh.
