THEregular bail plea of former district judge Giribala Singh, who is in judicial custody in the Twisha Sharma death case, is likely to be heard by the Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday, September 30. The matter could not be taken up at the previous hearing due to paucity of time. In its response before the High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed Singh’s regular bail application. The agency has cited material collected during the investigation and expressed apprehension that she could influence witnesses or interfere with evidence if released on bail. The CBI has examined postmortem material, WhatsApp chats, financial records, voice samples and other evidence during the investigation.

 

The agency filed its chargesheet against Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh on August 17, according to the case details provided in the proceedings. Twisha died on May 12: Twisha Sharma was found dead at her matrimonial home in Katara Hills, Bhopal, on May 12. The case was initially investigated by local police before being transferred to the CBI. Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh were subsequently named as accused. In its response, the CBI has referred to an alleged family dispute after Twisha’s pregnancy was reported on April 17. The agency has also referred to her visit to Noida and subsequent return to Bhopal, as well as her alleged communication to her mother about harassment and alleged mistreatment by her husband.
