A TELANGANA youth has scaled Nagaland’s highest peak, the 3,841-metre Mount Saramati, thereby completing the SevenSister chapter of his endeavour to plant the National Flag atop the highest point of all States and Union Territories of India. By summiting the highest Nagaland peak on September 20, Bhukya Yashwanth of the Telangana’s Mahabubabad district has taken the Tricolour to the highest points of 11 States so far. He had previously covered Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Goa.

 

Yaswanth said he embarked on the mission out of a passion for mountaineering and an ambition to document the highest points of all 28 States, rather than limiting his expeditions to wellknown high-altitude peaks. “While preparing for the Seven Summits, I realised that no one had documented a journey to the highest points of all States. So, I decided to take up this mission,” he said.
