THE Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a ‘Kalash Vandan’ programme under the Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan at the Ekatma Parisar district office here on Thursday. The programme was held as part of the year-long observance of the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas and aimed at spreading his message of social harmony, equality, brotherhood and humanity. Sacred urns were distributed among 20 BJP mandals in Raipur as part of drive. The nationwide Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan is being conducted from July 29, 2026, to February 20, 2027. The campaign was launched from Seer Govardhanpur in Varanasi, regarded as the birthplace of Sant Ravidas. The BJP has said the objective is to take his teachings beyond ceremonial observances and connect them with people across communities and sections of society. Former Assembly Speaker and Bilha MLA Dharamlal Kaushik said the campaign seeks to promote Sant Ravidas’s ideals of social harmony, equality and brotherhood and encourage people to build a united society free from caste-based discrimination.

 

He also stressed the need to acquaint the younger generation with the life and teachings of Sant Ravidas. Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra and Raipur Rural MLA Motilal Sahu also addressed party workers and spoke about the life and teachings of Sant Ravidas. The programme was attended by BJP state secretary Jayanti Patel, corporation and board chairpersons Sanjay Srivastava, Amarjit Chhabra, Prafulla Vishwakarma, Nandkumar Sahu, Kishore Mahanand, Ashok Pandey and Seema Sahu, along with general secretaries Amit Maisheri and Gunjan Prajapati. Programme coordinators Satyam Duba, Naveen Sharma, Akbar Ali, Tushar Chopra, Archana Hukre, Shraddha Mishra, Rohit Dwivedi, Panna Dubey, Pushpendra Upadhyay, Anita Dewangan, Kritika Jain, Akhilesh Kashyap, Omprakash Sahu, Arpit Suryavanshi, Rajiyant Dhruv and Zeeshan Siddiqui, besides presidents, general secretaries and other office-bearers and workers from 20 BJP mandals, were present.
