ARJUNA awardwinner Neeta Dadwefromcity has been appointed as head coach of Indian women’s kabaddi team forthe Asian Games starting from September 19 in Japan. The Games arescheduled to be held at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Neeta,aformerkabaddiplayer ofMaratha Lancers,was also coach of the gold medal winning Indian kabaddi team who emerged champion at the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea. Neeta had also won the gold medal in the 2016 South Asian Gamesduringher tenure as the coach. In the 2023 tournament, the Indian women’s team won the gold medal by defeating Chinese Taipei.

 

Currently,the training camp of the Indian women’s kabaddi team is under way in Ballari(Karnataka). Sheiscurrentlyworkingas the Chief Office Superintendent of South Central Railway in Hyderabad. Apartfromthe Arjuna,Neeta was also bestowedupon with ShivChhatrapatiAward(1996), Rail Khel Ratna Award(1998), Railway GM Award (1994, 1998), Rail Khelshree Award (2000). Sheplayed for Indian Railways women’steamfor14 years.Dadwe,whohaswongold medalsin eight national championships for Indian Railways, expressed confidence that the Indian team will returnwith a gold medal. Maratha Lancers office-bearers and Vidarbha Kabaddi Association Secretary JitendraThakur congratulated Neeta on her appointment.
