Voters in Nagpur district whose entries contain anomalies in draft voter list or remained unmapped during the pre-mapping stage of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls are likely to receive notices within next two days, district authorities said on Friday. Officials clarified that such discrepancies would be addressed through the statutory claims and objections process and urged voters not to panic. 406 hearing centres across district: The EC has planned hearings at 406 locations across Nagpur district to handle claims, objections and anomaly-related cases arising from the draft electoral roll. The exercise will be supervised by 12 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 551 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs). Notices issued to affected voters will specify date, venue and timing of hearings.

 

During the proceedings, electors need to produce one of the 13 documents prescribed by the EC to support their claim. The district’s polling station count has reduced from 4,610 to 4,607. Officials said the change resulted from the merger of eight polling stations in Hingna tehsil and addition of five new polling stations in Kamptee tehsil. Divisional Commissioner to review SIR process; parties’ meeting on Sept 7 The EC has appointed Vijayalakshmi Bidari, the Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur Division as the Electoral Roll Observer for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. As part of the exercise, the first meeting with recognised political parties has been scheduled for September 7 at 12.30 pm.

 

Kumar Ashirwad, District Collector, informed that the meeting will be held during the claims and objections period of the revision programme and all instructions issued by the Election Commission will be implemented strictly. Under the SIR programme based on the qualifying date of October 1, 2026, the Electoral Roll Observer will undertake three district-level visits during the revision process. During these visits, separate meetings will be held with Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly and representatives of recognised political parties. All Electoral Registration Officers have been directed to attend with relevant records and information pertaining to the revision exercise.
