KUNDAM police have arrested a car driver involved in the illegal transportation of liquor and seized 1,750 pouches of countrymade liquor packed in 35 cartons, along with the Baleno car used to transport the liquor. The arrested was identified as Anush Kol, son of Suresh Kol, a resident of Koliyana Mohalla, Madayi in Ranjhi. SHO of Kundam police station Satish Kumar Andhwan informed that police received information during patrolling that a Baleno car bearing registration number MP-20XG-3474 was found parked suspiciously on a road in Samanapur village. The vehicle was found unattended at the spot. With the assistance of local villagers, police brought the car to the police station by towing it with a tractor.

Several khaki-coloured cartons were visible inside the vehicle. Police searched the vehicle records and contacted the registered owner's mobile number. The owner told police that the car had been given to someone on rent for driving purposes. Police then traced the driver to his residence in Ranjhi and apprehended him. After bringing him to the police station, police obtained the vehicle key and conducted a detailed search of the Baleno. The search led to the recovery of 35 cartons containing 1,750 pouches of country-made liquor, estimated to be worth around Rs 1.5 lakh. Police seized the liquor along with the Baleno car and registered a case against Anush Kol under Section 34(2) of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act. The accused is being questioned to determine where and from whom the liquor was procured.
