The 12-day terror in the Morshi and Chandur Bazar tehsils ended on a tragic note on Monday afternoon when the troublesome tigress died after a successful rescue operation conducted by Forest Department. Meanwhile the sudden death of the tigress has raised questions over the process of tranquilisation. As per the sources, the rescue team failed to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) during tranquilisation process.

 

The big cat was darted and tranquilised by Amravati RRU forest guard Feroz Khan in the presence of Dr Hemraj, Chief Veterinarian of Pune-based Rescue Charitable Trust. According to sources, the tigress was darted twice and the team missed to give her the life saving drug immediately after the darting which is a standard protocol. The tigress had killed two persons in last 24 hours and with in hours it was captured by the team. Thereafter, the caged tigress was being shifted to Gorewada Wildlife Rescue and Treatment
