The City Traffic Police have stepped up action against motorists driving on the wrong side of the road. Under ‘Operation No Wrong-Side’, police took action against 190 motorists between August 23 and September 7.
The campaign is aimed at checking the dangerous practice of driving against the flow of traffic. Police said such violations put other road users at risk and can lead to serious accidents. The highest number of cases were reported in the Sonegaon traffic division.
Police took action against 45 motorists there.
It was followed by Cotton Market with 21 cases and Indora with 19. MIDC and Lakadganj divisions reported 18 cases each.
Police took action against 14 motorists in Sitabuldi, 13 in Sakkardara and 12 in Pardi.
Sadar reported 10 cases, while Kalamna recorded nine.
Ajni and Kamptee divisions reported six and five cases, respectively. Police said action was taken against motorists found driving against the flow of traffic. FIRs were also registered in the cases, according to the traffic police.
Police said the action will continue to discourage such violations and improve road safety across the city.
