Bhilai division of CSPDCL collects 16 lakh against outstanding arrears

AS part of stringent measures against swelling outstanding arrears, Bhilai City Division of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) launched a special drive at Distribution Centers (DCs) level and opted for disconnection of power supply to defaulting consumers in the DC. In the course of DC level drive, the officials from the division collected over Rs 16 lakh against Rs 27 lakh as the defaulting consumers cleared the pending power tariff. In accordance of directives the officials from Bhilai City Division have launched a three-day drive against arrears outstanding and disconnected the power supply to defaulter consumers. In the three-day drive at Baikunthdham, Bhilai DC on disconnection of power supply lines as many as 165 consumers paid over Rs 16 lakh against pending power tariff through ATP for reconnection.
 
As part of stringent measures the power company’s division officials disconnected power supply to 148 consumers expressed inability for clearing pending power tariff on one and other pretext. As part of punitive measures the officials are initiating stern action against outstanding arrears while keeping in view the period of delay in payment and the amount of outstanding arrears.
 
The defaulting consumers will have to pay the penalty for reconnection. The sources said that prior to power supply disconnection measures the defaulting power consumers from the DC of the division were warned for clearing the pending payment of power tariff. It needs a mention that Bhilai City Division of the State power company caters to over 87,000 domestic, commercial, industrial and temporary consumers. With due commitment Bhilai City Division officials are fast collecting arrears outstanding in the course of DC level drive and over Rs 4 crore arrears outstanding reduced to Rs 2.5 within short span to time. The officials from Bhilai City Division appealed the power consumers for clearing the power bills thereby sparing themselves from unwarranted problems and payment of penalty for reconnection.
 
When contacted, A R Singh, Divisional Engineer, Bhilai City Division of CSPDCL informed that the Assistant Engineers (AEs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) were directed to undertake the drive at DC level for ensuring maximum recovery of pending power tariff. He also asserted that in the course of three-day drive at each DC under the division they would collect considerable amount against arrears outstanding. He also added that all defaulting consumers will have to clear pending power tariff irrespective of amount in near future or else the power supply disconnection measures would be initiated in each case.
