The State has decided to celebrate Gaura-Gauri utsav and Govardhan Puja as Gothan Diwas. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has given emphasis upon Matrishakti and keeping the interest of women in view, has announced holidays on Teeja and Hareli festivals. To honour this Matrishakti and for women welfare, State Government has launched Suposhan Abhiyan in Chhattisgarh on October 2, 2019, which is beneficial for malnutrition eradication and child health.

This programme is playing crucial role in eradication of malnutrition and is beneficial for pregnant and lactating mothers as well. The Chief Minister said that his government has kept better healthcare to mothers and infants on top priority. He informed that in Chhattisgarh, 47% females of age group 15-49 years of age in Chhattisgarh are anemic. Women of age group 18-35 years have major responsibilities on their shoulders to look after their entire family. If females of 15-49 years age are suffering from anemia, then how can we expect them to fulfill their responsibilities. If mother is under-nourished, anemic, how can she give birth to a healthy baby.

This is the reason why 37.5% of the children of age five years and below are suffering from malnutrition. The Chief Minister said that government is making dedicated efforts to provide better health services to people and accordingly health infrastructure is being improved. Places where infrastructure is not available, health services are being provided through Chief Minister Haat-Bazar Mobile Clinic Scheme and Chief Minister Urban Slum Scheme. In addition, for developing health facilities, health infrastructure under which five community health centres, 10 primary health centres, 25 sub health centres and trauma units in Jagdalpur and Raigarh district hospitals, burn unit in Bilaspur etc have been provisioned in the budget. Facility of Multi-Specialty Hospital will be provided in Bilaspur and Jagdalpur Medical College. Our target is to upgrade government health centres across the state.

Chief Minister told that large number of posts has been sanctioned in hospitals to expand the medical team. Also recruitment of health workers on nearly 1,200 posts will be commenced soon. This year, we will complete the recruitment of 975 doctors. Besides, 687 staff nurses have been recruited while recruitment of 941 nurses is in process. He also informed that the Universal PDS and Chief Minister Ward Office Yojana has been launched in Chhattisgarh on Gandhi Jayanti.
