‘Safety of employees must in any organisation’

The Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Maharashtra and Late Narayan Meghaji Lokhande Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies, Mumbai are jointly conducting three-day workshop on “Industrial Safety & Health” for Nagpur and Akola regions between October 14 and 16 at Udyam Sabhagruh, Nagpur. Jayant Moharkar, Additional Director of Industrial Safety & Health, Nagpur spoke about the objective of organising the workshop under the guidance of Dr Mahendra Kalyankar, Director of Industrial Safety & Health, Mumbai.
 
Such type of workshops are being conducted all over the state and this is the 9th batch of workshop. He said the goal of the workshop is to achieve ‘Zero Accident’ in industries. The workshop was inaugurated by President of Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) Suresh Rathi on Monday. In his inaugural address he said safety of employees of any organization is must and one should not be compromised on it. Organisation must conduct frequently Industrial Safety related programmes at their units, which help prevent accidents and also increase productivity. He further said that Government is coming forward to bring safety culture in industries. Dr P M Kadukar said the integrated system aims to detect, minimize, and eliminate hazards and risks associated with labour practices, as well as to attain occupational and industrial safety objectives.
 
He appreciated the initiatives taken by the State Government for organising such type of workshop in all over Maharashtra. Legal aspect was covered by A B Kamble, retired Joint Director of Industrial Safety & Health on “Legal Provisions of the Factories Act, 1948 and Maharashtra Factories Rules, 1963 and Amendments.” After the inaugural session, the dignitaries visited exhibition of “Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs)”. Machine safety, Fire Safety, Chemical Safety and Electrical Safety, etc. topics will be covered during three days workshop. Earlier, Jayant Moharkar welcomed Suresh Rathi with floral bouquet and memento and Sharad Dhanvijay, Dy Director of DISH, Nagpur welcomed Dr. P.M. Kadukar and V. Nikole, Jt Director (Incharge), Industrial Safety & Health, Akola with floral bouquets and mementos. Pallavi Gampawar, Dy Director of DISH, Nagpur conducted the proceedings and also proposed a formal vote of thanks.
