‘RSS aims to inculcate national spirit among swayamsevaks’

“The discipline, values, games which are part of one-hour shakha of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, is aimed at inculcating national spirit and responsibility towards the society among the volunteers. The essence of teaching in RSS is that the swayamsevaks should consider this nation as my nation and society as my society, without any discrimination.” This was stated by Bouddhik Pramukh Ravindra Sahastrabuddhe, during Shishu and Bal Swayamsevak Vijayadashmi celebrations at Bhavan’s B P Vidya Mandir, Srikrishna Nagar premises on Wednesday.
RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Vidarbha Sanghchalak Ram Harkare, Nandanvan Bhag Sanghchalak Ashok Bujone and chief guest Dr Ganesh Mukkawar, Dean of Government Ayurved Mahavidyalaya were seated on the dais. Sahastrabuddhe said that Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925 formed RSS with an objective of building character, increasing confidence of people so that people consider this nation as ‘My Nation’ and society as ‘My Society’. Within 15 years of his work, RSS Shakhas spread all over the country. He appealed to the parents to allow their wards to attend RSS Shakhas for development of their personalities and build character. Dr Mukkawar said that formation of any organisation before independence was very difficult.
Dr Hedgewar formed RSS in 1925, as he found people accepting slavery of the British. He started the organisation to develop the sense of dignity and love for motherland. Dr Mukkawar also stated that the concept of RSS right since its formation was Hindu nation, for all those living in Hindustan. The concept, however, is being misinterpreted for political reasons. The language used is Sanskrit in the functioning, which is also mother of all languages. Earlier, the volunteers marched through the area.
They demonstrated various drills, including fighting without arms, with cane, formation of pyramids and yogasan, which are taught for physical fitness of volunteers. Dr Bhagwat performed Shastrapujan on the occasion. Bujone made the introductory remarks and also proposed a formal vote of thanks. He stated that Vijayadashmi is celebrated as victory of truth and puja of shakti. Similar programmes were organised in six bhags of RSS in the city. Darmapal Agrawal, renowned businessman was the chief guest for Mohite bhag at NIT Ground , Near Eastern Sports Club, East Wardhman Nagar.
Noted paediatrician and President of IMA Nagpur Dr Kush Jhunjhunwala was the chief guest for Itwari and Laalganj bhag, at Gadikhana Ground. Renowned paediatrician Dr Himanshu Duwa was the chief guest of this function of Binaki, Sadar and Gittikhadan bhag at Rural Police Ground, Laal Godam, Patankar chowk, Kamptee Road. Dharampeth, Trimurty and Somalwada bhag celebrated the day at Navnirman Colony Ground. Renowned dental surgeon Dr Abhay Nilkantharao Datarkar was the chief guest on the occasion. Ajni, Ayodhya bhag at Tarangan Maidan, New Subedar Layout had Suchit Haribhau Uskelwar, Chartered Accountant and President of Laxmanrao Uskelwar Shikshan Sanstha as the chief guest.
