Congress candidates Thakre, Pandav file nomination; Dr Raut, Shelke, Hazare to file today
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates, while filing nominations for Assembly polls, want to have an united impact, on the other hand Congress candidates are stretching it over days. All candidates of BJP, led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, for Nagpur city constituencies will go together to the Collectorate to file their respective nomination papers on Friday. Congress candidates Vikas Thakre (West) and Girish Pandav (South) filed their respective papers on Thursday. Dr Nitin Raut (North), Bunty Shelke (Central) and Purushottam Hazare (East) will file nominations on Friday, the last date of filing of nominations for October 21 Assembly elections.
On Thursday, Vikas Thakre was first to file papers. He, along with his supporters, had reached the Collectorate and filed nomination. After filing the nomination, he joined the rally of Congressmen at Samvidhan square. The rally was led by former MP Vilas Muttemwar. Girish Pandav, along with his brother, Kiran Pandav, nephew Abhisar Agne, Adv Manmohan Bajpayee, Raja Tidke and other supporters reached Samvidhan square. Bunty Shelke also joined them. Other leaders including Prashant Dhawad, Vishal Muttemwar, Irshad Ali, Vivek Nikose, Dharamkumar Patil, Anantrao Gharad, Dr Baban Taywade, Trisharan Sahare, Sandip Sahare, Pankaj Lonare, Goldi Lade, Ankush Uke also participated in the rally. All leaders garlanded the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and marched towards the Collectorate. Bunty Shelke did not file his nominations.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis along with all candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party of Nagpur city constituencies will file nominations for on Friday. Various parties face setback Several parties suffered setback as some of their leaders either resigned from their positions or filed nominations as an Independents. The senior Vice-President of Nagpur city Congress Haji Ashraf Khan has resigned from his post. Some of the rebels from parties filed nominations. Some will file on Friday. Satish Hole, the Corporator of BJP (South), Duneshwar Pethe, the lone corporator of Nationalist Congress Party (East); Pramod Manmode, a member of Congress (South) and Ramesh Punekar of Congress (South), Manoj Sangole, a Corporator of Congress (North) became rebellions from their respective parties. Sangole, Hole, Manmode filed the nominations while Punekar and Pethe are likely to do the same on Friday.
Youth Congress with Dr Raut A group of Congress members have shown confidence over Manoj Sangle, the five time Corporator of Congress. Sangole had contested elections of Nagpur Municipal Corporations from five different wards and has good connections with people there. Vivek Nikose and others have decided to support Sangole. But the most active youth congress led by Ajit Singh have issued press release to the media regarding the date and time of filing of nomination by Dr Nitin Raut.
