Grand Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebrations today

City is decked up for the grand celebration of 63rd Dhammachakra Pravartan Din at historical Deekshabhoomi on Ashok Vijayadashmi, that is on Tuesday. Dr Parmha Anek from Thailand and Mahaupasak Teng Gyar from Myanmar are the guests for this year’s celebrations while Bhadant Arya Surei Sasai, President, Parampujya Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti, Deekshabhoomi, will preside over. Already devotees have started thronging the place in hundreds and festive atmosphere prevails on entire stretch of road from Ajni Railway Station till Laxminagar Square. Cadre of Samta Sainik Dal are working with city police in guiding the devotees, maintaining discipline, and in overall crowd management of lakhs who throng the Deekshabhoomi.
 
The main event is on Wednesday evening where in senior religious functionaries will enlighten the followers of Buddhism on wisdom of Tathagat Gautam Buddha and explain virtues of thoughts espoused by Dr Ambedkar. Various religious events started off from Saturday onwards wherein speakers included Bhante Karuna Rahul, Bhante Nagvansh, Bhante Dhamma Sarthi, Bhante Nagaprakash who spoke about Buddhism and its thoughts. Sadanand Fulzele, Secretary, Smarak Samiti, earlier inaugurated the event. A main attraction of visit to Deekshabhoomi is presentation of cultural programme that are held throughout the night whose central theme is dominated by Dr Ambedkar.
 
Talented singers from all over the country visit Deekshabhoomi and new albums are specially released on sidelines of Dhammachakra Pravartan Din. Of late Marathi Shyari too has gained ground and various celebrated singers make it a point to visit Deekshabhoomi to present couplets and songs.
 
‘Aapli Bus’ services for Deekshabhoomi Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made arrangement to ply buses for the visitors of Deekshabhoomi and other places to mark Dhammachakra Pravartan Din. The ‘Aapli Bus’ services will be available from various places in the city to Deekshabhoomi and Dragon Palace, Kamptee and back. The buses will ply from Deekshabhoomi to Dragon Palace and back. the other places between Deekshabhoomi an back will be from Ambazari T-point, Kapil Nagar, Nara, Nagsenvan, Yashodhara Nagar, Ambedkar Statue, Samvidhan Chowk, Rameshwari, Bheem Chowk, Vaishali Nagar, Rani Durgavati Nagar, Garoba Maidan. The bus services will be available from October 7 to 10. The bus services from Nagpur Railway Station to Deekshabhoomi and back will also be available from October 8 to 10, between 5 am and 10.30 pm.. Arrangement of 20 ferries of buses have been made for the visitors, who come to the city in lakhs of numbers.
