Here is a good news for shooters in Police Department to get advanced training facilities at newly developed shooting range of 6th Battalion of Special Armed Force (SAF). New shooting range has been established to provide better training facilities to policemen at Kashi village in Panagar near Ordnance Factory Khamaria.

Shooting range has been catered with advanced facilities of auto rotatable targets and pavilion having water, changing room and toilet facilities. New range will not only provide better training facilities but also implement safety measures for the shooters.

SAF, 6th Battalion, Deputy Commandant, S S Shukla, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that new shooting range has been established in order to provide better training facilities to policemen. Old shooting range was established at battalion premises but it had no advanced facility with manual targets. Along with providing training to new recruits and routine practice of police personnel, new range will also prove beneficial for shooting players of Police Department. New shooting range has been established with the budget of Rs 50 lakhs while efforts will be made to provide more advanced shooting facilities to police personnel. Shooters had to check and change their targets at old shooting range which was time consuming and vulnerable for untoward incidents. New shooting range has ten lanes of 100-yards.

Deputy Commandant, S.S. Shukla added that the vacant land of old shooting range is being utilised for construction of new residential quarters for police personnel. Construction of new residential quarters will evade dependency on other department for providing accommodation to SAF personnel.

It may be noted that shooting team of Jabalpur Police clinched runner-up position in recently held State Level Police Shooting Competition. Shooters of Jabalpur Police secured total 14 medals and qualified to participate in All India Police Shooting Competition to be organised in Bihar.
