VIVEKANAND SINHA, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Durg Police Range assumed the office on Tuesday morning. Earlier, he was posted as IGP, Bastar Police Range and after the recent transfer he assumed the charge. He has also served as IGP, Bilaspur Police Range. He was welcomed by presenting him guard of honour on arrival. He was welcomed by Ajay Kumar Yadav, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Durg and senior police officials including Rohit Kumar Jha, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP City); Rakesh Joshi, Dy SP, IGP office, Bhilai and Pravirchandra Tiwari, Dy SP (Crime). Talking to the media persons after taking charge, IGP, Sinha said that along with effectively checking crime the police have already chalked out the strategy and eliminating expansion plan of outlaws.
 
He opined that with implementation of basic policing to the letter and with ensuring cooperation and gaining faith of people in general, police could control crime effectively and maintain law and order. He added that he would workout the strategy for police patrolling and for field presence of police as the increasing crime rate could be checked with active police presence in field and fear of getting caught among criminals. He also observed that healthy police public rapport is of vital importance and police have to play role of friends, assistant and as brother to people in general and crime victims specifically.
 
Along with crime prevention measures IGP, Sinha stressed on quality investigation for ensuring healthy conviction rate as the conviction in criminal cases also check crime and criminal activities in human society to some great extent. He pointed out that scientific investigation including investigation from technical and forensic aspects instead of routine investigation could bring desired results. He said that CCTV vigilance also play an important role in crime and criminal tracking.
 
While speaking about staff crunch, he emphasized on optimum utilization of police force officials and personnel. He specifically said that criminal elements sometime increasingly target elderly couple whose children are living away and police could curb such crimes with implementing specific beat system at police stations’ level. IGP, Sinha said that the police have already worked out strategy and eliminating the expansion plan of naxals in Rajnandgaon and Kabirdham. With keeping tabs on funding to outlaws and intercepting their urban network police have paralyzed them in jungles.
