Annual Convention of Chemists & ICRTCS commences today

Three-day 56th Annual Convention of Chemists & International Conference on Recent Trends in Chemical Sciences would begin on Thursday at Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur. The School of Studies (SoS) in Chemistry, Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU) and Government Nagarjuna Post Graduate College of Science, Raipur are hosting the Convention from November 14 to 16, said organising committee coordinator Dr Kallol K Ghosh and secretary Dr Manmohan Satnami. Chief guest Chief Minister Bhupoesh Baghel would inaugurate the convention at 10 am on Thursday while special guests would be Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel, Indian Chemical Society President Professor Dulal Chandra Mukherjee and Honorary Secretary Professor Chitaranjan Sinha.
PRSU Vice Chancellor Dr K L Verma would preside over the inauguration programme, informed Registrar Dr G K Pandey. Florida’s University of Texas Professor and Chemical scientist Daniel Talham, Kolkata University Professor D C Mukherjee, Saha Nuclear Physics Centre, Kolkata and Professor (Dr) Sushant Lahiri would have special lectures. The first technical session would be addressed by chemical scientist from Madra Dr Sundar Gopal Ghosh and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) former scientist Dr Sapan Kumar Ghosh. Besides, chemical scientists from universities of states of Odisha, Bengal, Bihar, MP, UP, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Maharashtra would attend the convention and share their views.
The three day event would witness 600 participants including more than 200 post graduate students from Chhattisgarh universities. More than 450 research papers would be presented during the convention. The programme would consist of scientific sessions that will include several Endowment and Invited Lectures, presentation of contributory papers, posters, and also students’ competition. The Society intends particularly to encourage the budding young chemists of India by organising special award sessions to accommodate the contributions of the young chemists.
The Convention would provide an effective platform for exchange of thoughts among the participating chemists which would generate newer ideas and open up new fields of research. A special session will be organised for the celebration of International Year of Periodic Table. Chemists from across the country are expected to participate in this Convention to make it a grand success.
